Research
Zachary’s projects aim to investigate disease and pest resistance loci as well as increase predictive accuracy of genomic selection in soft red winter wheat. These projects involve: identification and validation of Fusarium head blight native resistance loci, examination of new forms of genetic resistance to Hessian fly infestation, adjusting training population composition in genomic selection, and introducing new model variance structures to increase predictive accuracy. Zachary is currently a research assistant in the Small Grains Breeding Program under the direction of Paul Murphy.
