Research
My projects are on improving quality traits in peanut, specifically folate and flavor. To improve the folate content for human nutritional benefits I am identifying genetic markers controlling increased folate as well as creating a method for quicker and more cost-effective quantification of folate in peanuts. To improve flavor I am identifying “good flavor” lines through a trained panel and these top lines are being crossed with elite germplasm to introduce better flavor aspects to our breeding pipeline.
