Cultivar Development
NC 925 was derived by initially crossing black shank-susceptible, but high-yielding, flue-cured tobacco breeding line DH03B-45-47 with black shank-resistant flue-cured tobacco cultivar K346. K346 is a standard for high levels of polygenic black shank resistance in flue-cured tobacco. DH03B-45-47 has the pedigree DH92-2770-40 + CV 146-3. DH92-2770-40 is an NC State breeding line, while CV 146-3 is a commercial Canadian flue-cured tobacco cultivar.
