N7006

Soybean - New Release

USDA-N7006 is a conventional maturity group (MG) VII soybean with improved performance under drought stress, an exotic parentage (37.5%), and high yield potential. USDA-N7006 traces 12.5% of its parentage to PI 416937 from Japan and 25% to PI 407859-2 from South Korea. USDA-N7006 is the first North American soybean release derived from PI 407859-2. It has purple flowers, tawny pubescence, exhibits a determinate growth habit, and shows good resistance to lodging. The pod walls are tan, and the seeds are yellow with black hilum.

USDA-N7006 (right) was evaluated for performance under water-limited conditions across multiple years and locations. At the Sandhills Research Station, USDA-N7006, which displays delayed canopy wilting
under drought stress, was evaluated alongside a fast-wilting check (left) and other cultivars for drought tolerance.
