Borlaug Scholarship for Plant Breeders

The Borlaug Scholars Program, founded by National Association of Plant Breeders (NAPB), is seeking upper-level undergraduate and advanced graduate students attending school in the United States. The mission is to strengthen the plant breeding community to promote food security, quality of life, and a sustainable future. Students are invited to become active members and participants in NAPB activities.

One way to honor the best and the brightest student members is through the Borlaug Scholars Program, which supports their attendance at the NAPB Annual Meeting. This year NAPB is seeking more undergraduate applicants. It is accepting nominations now for its 2021 class.

NC State students with questions about the program should view the FAQ document  or email Dr. Don Jones (DJones@cottoninc.com), Borlaug Scholars committee chair.

Each Borlaug Scholar will be paired with mentors who are members of NAPB and are committed to their mentees’ professional development. Each recipient will receive financial support for travel, lodging, and registration expenses for the NAPB Annual Meeting. Interested scholars should use the respective undergraduate or graduate application links.
